Do you have a kid with Autism?

Hi All,

My friend's kid(3.5 yr) is diagonised with mild to moderate Autism, he is going to special education school program, showing some improvements now. she lives near los angeles, CA.

Please share your experience or any program available for 3 year old kids.

Hi vjbunny,

She is working, so she usually take him to park, mall or grocery stores or somewhere in the weekends. Everyday she sit with him 1 hour to do coloring, book reading...
She always talk to him very patiently, always she smiles at him, the kid obviously obey his mom(before he wasn't).
Reduced milk, sugar items..
Mostly home pepared foods.

She do her best. Hopfully god should show some mercy on her.

Hi

My son was diagnosed with moderate ADHD and some characteristics of Autism when he was 3 years.Now he's 9 years old.

I took him to a speech therapist as he wasn't talking at all.With that eveyrthing came into place i.e. concentration,speech etc.

Now he's doing good in speech as well as studies except for few minor issues which hopefully should subside.

Need to have a lot of hope and patience in dealing them.

May I know when your son started talking like few words?.

Also how long you took him to speech therapist?

Also can you please let me know what are other steps you took for your son to show improvement when he was little? that helps my friend a lot!!!!

He started talking words in 3 months of speech therapy.I took him for over an year.

He had 2 sessions per day i.e. morning and night.
He along with another kid improved very well in a short time.

It depends on the severity as Autism is a spectral disorder.Each kid may be different.
In the same class i've seen kids coming from a long time as well as kids like my son.

My son was on medication for ADHD referred by a doctor which also helped a lot.
We started taking him for outings frequently as suggested by the doc and therapist.

Also we bought him games and puzzles to improve concentration and eye hand coordination.

I later reduced the session to one per day as i couldn't mange my job and this.
After speech therapy ended, we took him for physiotherapy to improve his gross and fine motor skills.

He can't open and close bottles,hold pencil etc and also didn't do cycling.
With physiotherapy and occupational therapy this all improved and helped him write better.

Thanks to God for what he his today.My prayers are with your friend to cross this hurdle.

I really have tear in my eye on seeing my friend's kid sometime. she is good, but I don't know why God gives pain to her. She is so good and more helping tedency...

Her kid do cycling, hold pencil, do some color match puzzle.

The only issue is he doesn't talk much ad no concentration.

Hope God will help her.
