    Hi,

I was just browsing through the TV channels today when I came across a News channel which was talking about the safety measures that they are going to follow for next 2 days. They were interviewing a lady in the airport who was affected by the strict safety measures that the government has enforced during these days. She had come to the airport to bid adieu to her only daughter who is going on her Bon voyage to US for her studies. But she was not allowed to enter the main lobby to accompany her daughter. She was in tears. This was the news in one of the channels.

Another channel said that they are going to monitor strictly on people travelling.Iam supposed to send my carpenters to another state to work there. But this person has refused travelling saying that they would facing problems from policemen since they would be strangers in other state.

There are many more happenings like this.Flights are not supposed to fly over specific places,Malls to be closed etc.

After watching all this,my husband and I were debating on whether we are really free to celebrate our freedom.

What do you guys feel? Are we really enjoying our freedom in all ways?Or have been made a slave by our own nation?

    Cheers
    Rama

    Dear Rama,

Your thread has really got us thinking. So true, we too have been following the news channels and noted the "extra" safety measures.

On a day that is meant to celebrate independence and freedom, here we are binding ourselves with more and more laws.
But then, the happening in our country today. are calling for such measures. The common man is the one who becomes a "scapegoat" for all the wrong reasons.
It is sad, but true. Our freedom fighters fought for independence and to free India from a foreign rule. They definitely did not have a visual of the India today (corruption, poverty, childlabour etc) in their eyes on the day our Flag was hoisted.

It is sadly a fact that though India is free from British rule, it is now being ruled by issues like corruption, poverty etc.

We cannot deny the fact that there have also been a lot of developments in the major sectors like Industrial, Information Technology, Commercial and Real Estate. Our country is being envied by other nations for many aspects also.

On this Independence Day, let us join hands together and continue to celebrate our freedom and remember our martyrs, but at the same time, the future of India lies in the hands of the youth of today. So, we should all do our bit to overcome the social issues and also hope that the Government stands for the country and protects the citizens from negative issues.
