Now it is corona time. All educational institutions are closed since February. No one

knows when they will open. While there is no way but to accept,

parents may view the loss differently. The situation of all the parents

are not the same though they they seem to have been similarly placed .

There are thousands of parents eagerly waiting for the children to take

up responsibility. There are parents who are in death bed just awaiting final

call. Certain jobs and vacancies cannot wait for an year.

Now we are in a helpless situation and we are entirely left at the hands

    of invisible corona.

Actually the loss is nearly 1/10 of the valuable

    education period.

We cannot blame the parents also. More than the students they face the burden

    a lot.

"It is said that the wisest grieve the
most at the loss of time.

By wasting time one is not harming
others. On the other hand one is
    harming himself.

Corona Lockdown has taught more lessons
than ever before regarding time management.

Only the people who have lost the
time are able to appreciate the value
of time. You will understand the value
of shade only when you are made to
    walk in the scorching heat.

What is the value of a year? Go and
ask a person who has been detained
    in the same class.

The value of a month is better realised
by a mother who has given birth to
an under weight baby by premature
    delivery.

The value of a week is better realised
by the editor of a weekly magazine.

The value of a day is realised by a
    person who just postponed his
joining duty by a day and
    consequently missed his promotion.

The value of a few hours delay is
better felt by the son.He would not
have lost his father had he
admitted his father two hours earlier.

The value of an hour is better known
to a student writing the exam and
the surgeon struggling to save a
    patient .

Doctors are aware that a patient —
    one whose heart has short-circuited
and has been thrown into a
    chaotic condition
    known as ventricular fibrillation —
has six minutes to live. A shock with
    a defibrillator within that time
    usually will restore the heart's
rhythm. The value of mere 6 mts
    can be known
    only to the doctor.Many relatives
    who have admitted relatives late
during corona infliction would have known
    the real value of time.

The value of a minute is better known
to persons who have missed the train
    as well as the interview.

The value of a second will be realised
by a person when he just dozes off
while driving and gets entangled into
    serious consequences, including loss
    of life.

The value of a microsecond is known
to olympic participants or horse race
    goers.

The time cannot be stored. It doesn't
speed up for the rich and slow down
for the poor. It is time management
that results either in fame or failure.

    With time management, you become
more organized and the things you do
    become more habitual than panic-
    driven.
By making it a habit, you become
    more productive. As Aristotle said,
We are what we repeatedly do.
Excellence, then, is not an act,
    but a habit.

All ITprofessionals are aware of 'time
    tracking'in project management.

Why to talk of big business jargons?
Even a three month old baby needs a
'Tummy Time' to develop the neck,
    back and shoulder muscles,
'a sleep time' for brain development.

We need not come to a wrong
    conclusion
    that pucca planning, tight schedules,
    strict adherence of time schedules
will always land us in victory.
Corona stands at our door steps to teach us

an altogether different lesson, a Guru of unique category!

    Time management includes
    procrastination also.It may look
strange. But taking a step back
    before you move forward is
    deemed to be a
    better course of action.
Computer specialists use a nice word
    'late binding' for
    procrastination.Making
early decisions, if beneficial in a
    way,delaying decisions especially in
    dealing with complexities of human
behaviour is beneficial in many ways.
It provides maximum time to think
    and determine alternatives.Even in
family life, we have to think deep,
delay a little while fixing marital
    alliances.It
    enhances the flexibility, free thought
    process and facilitates current
    changes in the situation.The time
    pressure gets reduced and allows
the mind to be calm and explore
    alternatives and think of other
    possibilities.Delay will become a
    blessing in disguise.

Honouring the dead line is very
important and for simple tasks it can
    be followed to perfection.
    For complex
tasks a little delay may help a lot.
We have got many stories resulting
    in life saving by procrastination
    in our epics."

The Covid-19 has hit the world in ways no one ever imagined.
Everyone is at home, companies have moved online, the
lines of home space and workspace are diminishing.
The education field stands highly impacted by the pandemic..

In all this, a question that is always popping up from all
parents’ sections is how soon educational organizations
will be fully functional. ”When is the board going to decide
the exam dates? What about the competitive exams? What
about regular schools? When will they teach, and when will,
they do the assessments? When will preschools be fully
functional? My child will lose one full year! Who will compensate?”

Does one lose a year of one’s life by not being part of an organizational setup? Or does one lose a year by giving a competitive exam a year later?

Education in India was highly skill-based until the British took
over and converted our self-sufficient model into something
that would develop educated clerks to run their offices.
The present model of schools has time and again come
under severe criticism by many educational thinkers.

This problem of losing a full year finds resonance with parents
of all age groups of students.,from KG to PG.
It only brings about the total dependency of the human
    community on institutional education systems.

Education systems offer academic programs that are age-dependent.
Our systems demand an entry age into each category. They also require a stepwise movement from one grade to the other within these classifications. We have been going on for decades with this system. Hence parents and institutions themselves are not able to break the patterns.

Research has shown us that the human brain is highly capable of learning every need, not staggered into an inherently age-dependent program. There is no age limit to learning. Learning happens if the person participating in the process is interested in it and has the will to do the same. Time outside an organizational set up doesn’t mean a loss of one year. It’s time we opened up to new avenues of learning. So many universities have opened up courses online. Skill-based sessions are available. , This is the time to learn which we have not done earler due to paucity of time.

We are a society that has indoctrinated to think that life works linearly. Life only ages linearly. It grows in all directions. While organized education will always be essential and will play a substantial role in people’s lives, learning never stops. It meanders, jumps, and finds a new route. Knowledge is like flowing water. It will find its way or else create its way ahead. It is up to the learner to harness a river or let it go stagnant.

    No human being can lose a year in his or her life. The time that spent in a year is 365 days of experience;
    a year is 365 days of new learning;
a year is 365 days of creating unique experiences and savoring them.
a year is 365 days of interacting with people, learning from them, looking far beyond the rainbow, and the vessel of gold at its end. A year is never lost. A Pandemic strikes and systemic events delayed; there is just that; delay. No loss at all!

    :hello:
Glad to read this timely dissertation about value of time in various spheres from motherhood to attaining masters degree, time bound cosmic macro to nuclear micro activities well analysed and presented in a lucid style.

A message to GT Hospital in then Bombay sent to arrange for medical check up and issue fitness certificate for a selected candidate. The copy of message endorsed to the candidate but it was either not posted to him or lost in transit.
After knowing that he has been selected and awaiting for few months, the candidate made further enquiries with the department to which he was assigned BY UPSC New Delhi.
Since no response from department, the selected candidate wrote to upsc to let him know the status. All this took around six months or so during which three persons were promoted to the posts that were created new.
Eventually the candidate joined the department assumed charges.
But in later years, he found he lost his chance to get elevated to the rank of Deputy Director general because an officer just before him in the seniority list still serving got appointed to that prestigious post.

Yes. You guessed right. who could be that unlucky man!

One hundredth of a second difference - our nation India - lost a Olympic medal in 400 meters sprint. Unlucky PT USHA.
    Thanks and Regards.
