    Re: Diwali

Hi Marie, of course your prayers can be in English, no worries. You can try Googling for accessories that you will need, but just be a bit careful because things are marked up tremendously.

Puja is praying it is as pure and simple as it can get - just clean your house, and arrange the prayer area with a picture of your Ishtadevta (the form of God you reach out to - different people have different ways of analyzing) as it will help you relax and be a focal point of your concentration; have some fresh flowers and petals, light a lamp (fire in the religion is very important, as it purifies everything including itself and it signifies getting rid of the darkness and leading you into light) and then pray.

I hope this what you are looking for, if you are looking for mantras, there are plenty as well.

    Good luck! :thumbsup

    Hello Everybody,

People who are staying outside India don't get everything needed to decorate our houses. Somebody raised the problem of not getting rangoli colours. This problem can be sorted out by using coloured rice. Take dosa rice grind it (don't grind much) and colour it with the food colour (the wet one) and use it in rangoli. You can use as many colours as you want. I think food colours are available everywhere. Last time I made rangoli with rice it looked very beautiful. Try this.

    Love
