I do believe there's some truth to divorced and remarried women being stigmatized in indian culture, but you could definitely find some social circles where it's not a big deal. The younger generation is getting more comfortable with it, but the older generation may be resistant to the idea. The joys of being in America is that you can make friends with all kinds of people. You don't have to limit yourself to Indians only.

I had shared in another thread that my divorced mom had forced my brothers and I to never tell anyone about her past. We had to pretend that our step-dad is our real father. She said that the Indian community will not only judge her, but that they would judge us (my siblings and I) and accuse us of being messed up.
