    Hi friends,

Please help me in understanding. I require your opinions/ experiences to come to a conclusion. Its my humble request to you to post your comments here- may be your self-experiences or heard from somebody else- please post them.
    1) Did your child had any allergies in the initial stage of visiting US? If yes, what kind of allergies- Skin/food/ any kind.

    2) Did any new food had bad effect on the skin of your kid? (Eg: Milk, egg, Oil, etc.)

    3) Can it be because of weather change? (India to US)

Please help me in deciding if my kid has allergy to some food here. I guess she is getting allergic to Milk or Egg here as it is new to her. (We never used to give her egg in India. But milk she used to have daily there also and here also)

So I have stopped giving milk and egg completely. (Instead I give her fruit juice in the Milk-giving-time). Is it correct what I am doing?

    Hi Ananya,
There are some chances of getting allergy due to all the causes you mentioned above.

If the allergy is due to specific food item like Milk or anything we take, the allergy should stop when you avoid that particular food substance. You said that you stopped giving milk, but you didn't mentioned wether is there any improvement in her health after doing so. If you find any benefit in her allergy from stopping milk, there is nothing wrong in avoiding milk. In US we will get various varieties of milk as Soy milk, rice milk, etc etc, YOu can try anyone of them to find out if they suit to your child. But be very very careful in experimenting with new milk or any food items on your child. Initially start with very little quantities and you will know easily wether it suits to your child or not.

There is lot of scope to get allergies due to change of weather also. Bcos in INdia we find stabilised environment and the weathe changes are not as sudden and drastic changes as we find in US. By careful observation you will definitely know the reason.

If you could not find after all your efforts also and the problem is severe, it's better to take the help of a doctor.

Hope you will get some help from my reply.

    Regards,
    Latha.

Ananya, you should talk to your ped and get a simple allergy test done for her - you will know for sure what she is allergic to. Ofocurse elimination is the first step to begin .... observe, make some notes and don't foegt to atlk with your ped about your observations so that she can throw more insight!

    Hi Ananya,

I think its better to consult your paediatrician once as you are saying that its not getting controlled even after stopping milk and you ruled out bugs.

My kids also faced this problem when we come to australia first, but with the advice of a fried, we tried, CLARATYNE syrup, which is available in pharmacies here without prescription, and it worked out for them.
If you get it try it, 3 doses daily for 3 days. If you don't get relief within 3 days its better to consult the doctor immedialtely.

If you think it is really bothering and need immediate attention, its better to consult a doctor immediately.

    Regards,
    Latha.
