Is the centre still active?Last birth announcement was in 2009 so I was wondering.

    Do they provide accomodation?

Hey just came back to add - I had an incredible water-birthing experience at the goa birthing-centre.
For those of you who are considering it, it's honestly amazing - and you won't feel the need for pain-killers.

Sounds amazing:) Could you please tell me how long your labour was? I heard it ranges anywhere from 5 hours to 48 hours and I am very scared thinking about a long labour. Does she use Aromatherapy, Reflexology etc.?

I'm not sure how to calculate my labour time...!
I started getting pains on Oct 30, in the evening, mild ones - and I could sleep through them - so nothing big. This continued for two days. On Nov 1st, they started slowly building in intensity. I went to the birthing centre around 8 in the evening. They slowly built up, and around 1:30AM got into The bath tub, and my little girl was born at 6:07 AM.

But honestly, didn't feel the time at all!

Also, I think long labours are safer and more manageable - it gives you time to regroup, calm yourself, as they build slowly. You just need to make sure you're hydrated, so that you don't tire. I actually find short labours more intense as they suddenly build up and may overwhelm you with their pace and intensity.

And yes, Corinna (the mid-wife) specialises in a whole range of natural treatments - accupuncture, massages, aromatherapy, homeopathy etc.
I honestly only needed the warm waters, and her breathing techniques were wonderful.

I found that the concept of "pain" and "managing" it was more of a mind thing than something that requires external relief. And she did a grand job in making me confident, and strong.

    Hope that helped!

(Have written my birth-story, hope it gives you more insight)

    Good luck!

Thank you Mynta, thats so kind of you to explain everything in detail:) Will read your birth story now:)

If you don't mind me asking about the cost could you please tell me what would be the total cost including accomodation? Did you go 1 month in advance?

Congratulations and God Bless you and your little girl:)

We shifted to Goa in June and have been living here since then.
But most people come here in their 7th or 8th month - and find accommodation - Corinna usually helps you with that.
As for the cost, I don't think it's right for me to talk about it - if you email her or call her, she'll be happy to discuss things with you.

I can only say I was expecting it to cost loads more than it did, and wasn't sure I'd afford it - but was pleasantly surprised and she supports me till date - I still go to her for baby check-ups.

And thank you for your wishes and blessings!
