Can anyone explain about the different residential status in US ? Like how we have in India Resident (some criteria has to met) etc.

I believe the status is based on your immigration status. Basically any non-citizen is an alien. Once you get your green card you become a resident. Green card is the "residency". Any visa holders are non-resident aliens.

GC, H1, H4 etc.. all are VISAS only

    GC - Immigrant Visa
    h1/H4 etc are NON-Immigrant Visas

When you are on an Immigrant Visa like GC, you are resident alien
When you are on a non-immigrant visa(like H1 etc) you are non-resident alien.
