    Dear All,

I am familiar with baking soda(one of the ingredients for baking cake). i happened to see recipes for appam, dhokla etc., which mentioned about cooking soda and fruit soda?

    Could you please this confusion?

    1) Is baking soda the same as cooking soda?
    2) Aren't these harmful to the stomach?
    3) Are their healthy alternatives to these chemicals?
    4) I was told that ENO could be used to make dhoklas????

    1. baking soda and cooking soda are same.
    2. yes , they are not healthy but a pinch or two if not used regularly is fine.
    3. you can use sour curd etc.like for making bhatura for chole bhatura i knead flour in sour curd, some people use soda and water which i feel is unhealthy.
    4. yes , even i make instant dhokla with eno.
