    Hey everyone,
I was at a party recently and heard few women talk about the significance of the Mom chanting Holy words/Mantras in the ears of a newborn baby.I had not heard this till now and it is something which definitely intrigued me.

I was wondering what are the holy mantras/sloks/phrases etc in Sanskrit or hindi that people chant in the newborn's ears.Is there a difference in the type of sloks to be chanted for a babyboy vs for a babygirl???Also if you have chanted any slok, it would be great if you could briefly explain the meaning/significance of that phrase.

It would be very fun to know.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards

Well i guess its a ritual followed in some religions. I have heard that while naming the child, they utter gods names first in the childs ears and then the name which the baby will be known as. But its just a ceremony i suppose. Coz i barely remember anything that happened in my infancy. Nor can we say how we were named or what mantra's etc were said in our ears.

Guess its just a belief like many others.
