    Dear Sathya,

This is being celebrated during Deepavali in Maharashtra as 'Bhavu Beech'. Bhavu means brother and beech is between. On this day sisters will visit brother's place with sweets. In Tamil Nadu it has been a one way traffic from brother to sister. There is a famous saying ' Seer kondu vanthal sakothari'. Brothers have to give money during Karthikai Deepam and Pongal. I used to send money orders to my four sisters.

    Regards,

    TDU

    Dear Sathya,

I dont know anything about this... I have two sisters... For pongal, we have to do brother seer... something... My mom meticulously tells us to go and give dress/money... We do that...

On the lighter side of it, I dont mind somebody taking sweekaram as brother, as long as they feast me.... hahahahahahaha....:spin:spin:spin.
