This is a nutritious sweet, colourful to attract children and elders. Made out of simple ingredients.

    INGREDIENTS:
    Gram dhal - 1cup
    Sugar - 2 cup
    Carrot pulp – 1/4 cup
    Beetroot + beans pulp – 1/4 cup
    Milk powder – 1/4 CUP
    Ghee – 4 Tbsp
    Vanilla – few drops
    Nuts – for decoration

    DIRECTION:
    1. Cook dhal with water, then drain. When dhal cools make it in to powder.
    2. Cook vegetables separately and mash nicely. This is vegetable pulp.
    3. Add 1 cup sugar, 3/4 cup water and carrot pulp to a heavy bottom pan.
    4. Boil the mixture to one string consistency.
    5. Add half the amount of gram dhal powder and keep stirring.
    6. When the mixture thickens add 2 Tbsp of ghee little by little. Add milk powder and stir well. When the mixture leaves the sides remove from fire.
    7. You get an orange or yellow colour mixture.
    8. In another pan add 1 cup sugar, 3/4 cup water and well mashed beetroot and beans.
    9. Repeat steps 4 to 6.
    10. You get a pink or rose colour mixture.
    11. Roll both step 7 and step 10 mixtures one top of the other and make in to desired shapes.

Wow cake using dhal! Awesome will try it.

I've a question. Do we need to pressure cook the dal? in that case wont it become smashed. How can I powder it?

    Hi getstrngth,
    Thanks for your post.
Dhal can be cooked either in pressure cooker or in a pan with just 1 cup of water. let it be just half cooked and not too soft. Drain off the water completely. spread it on a plate to cool. when it cools completely , put in the mixie and pulse to make powder .

dhal can be cooked in pressure cooker just 2 whistles.
