    need help!!!

    Dear somebody,
I have a brand new flat getting ready. In a few weeks I need to start the woodwork. I need to have an idea before i can take quotes. From my research there seems to be a large range in the price depending om the materials used. What I want to know is if I use standardised material something decent like commercial plywood not teak and such stuff what would be the rate per sq.feet for box cupboards and frame cupboards and kitchen cupboards?
    Really desperate.

    Hello all !

I have seen lovely pooja mandapams in Cottage Emporium, located in Temple Towers, Mount Rd Chennai. You can also check the other handicraft stores like VTI(Victoria Technical Institute)on Mount Rd., Khadi, etc

My suggestion regarding the material used would be
to make sure that the wood used in making the mandapam is treated with termite resistant products and check that your house is free from termites. Other than that it should be based on your personal choice of wood and should match the decor of the rest of the room.

    Hi Manjulats

Could you please clarify whether you want a Pooja Mandapam to place your God figurines and pictures and accessories or whether you want to devote an entire room for pooja purposes ?

Here's a little tip. We get readymade sticker 'kolams' in various designs and colours in India. If you don't want to stick it directly on the floor or shelf, which would make it difficult to remove(leaving behind a sticky patch!) you can stick it onto a thick cardboard and place it on your pooja shelf or mandapam. It not only adds a nice decorative touch but also saves the surface by preventing oil, kumkum or turmeric spills.
