I know there's a lot of healthy recipes...so let's go with a bit of sweetness. I wanted to share a Harry Potter cake that I had designed and made for my sister who's a huge HP fan (with the help of a local bakery who helped me bake and paint it). I sketched out a design, sculpted the cake (baked by the bakery), made the towers, got the flying Harry Potter figurine with Snitch in hand...then I made the signage and Quidditch goals with chocolate. To finish it up, the bakery helped me airbrush the paint on it and polish it. It was such a great experience and successfully surprised my sister She was overjoyed. (click on image for a larger view)
Sister HasteRaho, Excellent try, I am also equally happy like your sister, for the time spent, and the Bakery's help, has brought out a great creation. Hope everyone enjoyed, Thanks for the virtual treat. SAIRAM
Lovely! the cake looks to awesome to eat!! good one hasteraho. I couldn't help noticing your sister's unusual name Shraya, sounds cute! what does it mean?
Its beautiful haste! I love it. Can you please give me more details? I like the idea. My DH loves Lord of the Rings and I am leaning towards making something similar for his birthday. I have a few questions, if you can help me, it would be great! 1. Base of the cake: is it plain yellow/white cake? 2. For the frosting, did you use butter cream frosting (i dont think so) or is it made out of fondant? 3. the figurine, is it made with gum-paste?
