Eat a Red Apple Day is today. Hope you eat an apple today, and every day. Apples are delicious. Apples are nutritious. That's a great combination. Apples date back to the garden of Eden. In that garden, the Bible tells us it was the "Forbidden fruit". It is really easy to participate in this special day. There are thousands of varieties of apples grown all over the planet. Your mission today, is to pick an apple among all of these varieties, and eat it. A little apple trivia: The science of growing apples is called pomology. Celebrate this special day. Select a juicy piece of the "Forbidden fruit" and have a happy Eat a Red Apple Day World Aids Awareness Day is today. Hi Saroj, Today is the first day of the rest of my life, so I shall keep the doctor away by eating a red (our own Desi Simla apple, no NZ or US or Chinese ones for me) yellow (yummy kulu variety with a mild fragrance) or even a green (chutney) apple every day, as I have been doing all these years!!! Bonne santé to you too! Jai Bhavani Maa! Love, Padma

Today is National Fritters Day, Aren't we all lucky that this this special day has finally arrived!? Before you can begin to celebrate this very important day, you need to know what a "fritter" is. Fritters are delicious fried cakes or dough that can be filled with fruit or meat. They can be served as a snack, side dish, dessert, or even the main course! There's not much difference between a pancake and a fritter as they are both made with the same ingredients in the batter. It is only once fruit or meat is dipped into the raw batter and then fried that it actually becomes a fritter. The first recorded mention of fritters dates back to 1665 in Samuel Pepys' diary on Shrove Tuesday, the last day before the start of Lent. Pepys mentioned that he would be enjoying some fritters before the 40 days of no meat eating. To celebrate National Fritter Day, enjoy some tasty fritters with your friends and family.Whatever you do, do not fritter this day away without eating at least one.
