    On the D-Day,
All the programmes got over but little Sheela was never seen in any of the dance programme. As the parents looked for Sheela she came running with a big smile.
'So..? mom, dad.. how was it?'
    'how was what?'
    'my dance event'
    Parents whispering to each other
'err... did I miss it dear?'
'I dont think so.. I didnt see our Sheela on the stage at all'
    'you better ask her'
    'no you better ask'
    'alright'
    Turning to Sheela
'Sheela dear.. you did very well.. amazing, isnt it dear'
    'yeah yeah...'
'So mom, did you take a snap in our camera?'
    'err...no... the camera...'
'well the camera was running out of battery'
'ah! too bad dad. anyway I will ask Kalpana.. you wait here'
As Sheela's parents gave a puzzled look, Sheela came running along with Kalpana who was dressed up in similar manner. 'Look at this' little Sheela showed the digi-camera of Kalpana where a little girl was dressed up as goddess Kali.
    -------------------------------------------
    a week before the D-Day
    'mommy, mommy... yeh...'
'yes Sheela, what is the matter?'
'I have to tell you an important thing'
'Wait, let me wash my hands and face and come'
'oh no mommy.. you have to listen... please please please'
    'you little brat.. go ahead'
'mommy, they are going to conduct culturals in my school'
    'very good'
'and I am also participating in a dance event'
'oh no.. you are not here to ask my permission but just pass on the information, am I right'
    'yes mom'
'ah..thats bad of you little Sheela. you should have asked me first before saying yes in the school'
    'but mom...'
'see... they will make you to practice for hours together and you will miss your classes'
    'mom!'
'and they will ask us to buy so many things for costume and other vagyaras. so better say no to them and come'
'mom.. mom.. please please... one last time I participate. I wont do it from next year'
    the persuasion goes on...

'dad.. dad.. dad.. please ask mom to let me dance please please'
'oh Sheela, you are not a baby. you must understand why mom is saying so and do as per her wish'
'dad.. mom.. please... please... one last time'
again, the persuasion goes on ...
'alright go ahead. but on one condition. If by any chance your marks goes down in the exams, forget all your extra-curricular activities, got it?'
'yes dad.. very well. thanks dad, thanks mom'

    a day before the D-Day
    'mom.. please... please.. help me'
'see this is why I said a big no for these dances and all'
'please.. come with me to the fancy shop. I have to buy accessories for tomorrow's program'
'alright I will take permission and come. be ready in next hour, I will come home pick you and go to the costumes house'

    In the costumes shop
'mom I have to wear an orange one, not this red'
'Sheela, you are testing my patience. we have already gone for 3 shops and this is the fourth one. This is pretty much like orange, better pick it up'
'no mom... otherwise I will look odd.. there will not be a sequence. All my friends will be in orange and I will be in red'
'alright one last shop and you are buying it'
'finally.. this is orange indeed. now for the other accessories'
with lots of haste and fights, the shopping is over

    Night time
'mom.. dad.. please you both should come for tomorrow's programme'
'no.. I cant, but your mom can'
'no.. I was about to ask you to go, dear'
    'come on... you better go'
    'no.. you better'
'please mom, dad. both of you come. all my friends will bring both their parents. please please'
'this is not the first time we are coming to view the culturals at your school Sheela. you better go with Kalpana and come back. I will ask her mom to pick you also'
'this is not fair.. please please.. you both come please..'
    the persuasion goes on...
'alright dont end up in sobs and tears, I will try my best'
    'yeah me too'

    -------------------------------------------
    Back to the D-Day
'oh... so you were dressed up as Kali?? wow.. cant think this is you'
'no dad.. I am not the Kali one, it was done by Sakshi'
    'then?'
'Do you see the several hands behind Kali?'
    'oh yeah...'
'my hand is the second one. see.. my bangles.. my mehndi.. and Kalpana's is next to me.. mom, dad.. what happened? why are you fainting away? oh my god...'

very funny and at the time shows the working parents inability and their child's mood. but I hope Sheela is happy to be the hand of Kaali. nice. After so many dressings and make-up, she became the kaali's hand. I enjoyed reading it.
