Very true sir. Looks like I am in august company in more ways than one! I, too, have silence imposed on me since I only have the walls to listen to me!!! So our friends here are at the receiving end.

Oh...that is what it was. The now-deleted Post with the annotations of the link to the original from the movie "3 Idiots" was much nicer. It made sense to many of the Hindi Language challenged people among us.
Could you please add the "3 idiots" scene of the speech by the student to the OP post. Thank you.

Here is the original Chatur speech.

The joys of listening to a person who can't speak in Hindi read out a speech in Roman script.

You had mentioned that the lizard was back. Someday you'd hear the gecko echo, and feel like Dr. Jane Goodall, the woman who spent a life time in Africa, observing her chosen animal-subject, and after several decades, a mother chimp let Jane touch her newborn baby. Your gecko is still wondering if you can be trusted.
Is this a comment on Sonia Gandhi ? And Silencer? I had thought Sonia was good with Hindi.
My comment about Jane-Chimp and Cheeniya-Gecko is an example of how even documentary films can be replicated in life.

Her speech is proof. Instead of "40 saal pahele Chikamagalur me Indiraji ki shaandaar jeet ne desh ki rajneeti ko badalkar rakh diya" (40 years ago, Indira's fabulous victory in Chakamagalur changed the politics of the country) she says desh ki rajneet ka balaatkar rakh diya (raped the politics of the country). Very evidently, she does not even know what she is saying. Exactly what Silencer was doing.

Drove you up the walls...eh ?
I went and checked the etymology origin of that idiomatic phrase of doing-the-gecko, but there was no clear clue. Jane Goodall used to sit (in that documentary)not too far from the roosting chimps, for long hours pretending to be a chimp (she is really maida-white skin colored woman!, and looked least like a chimp).
