Politicians have become master manipulators they prey on the weak, they know what to say to keep the people divided and under their spell, only the rich will get richer in India for everyone else they have to depend on the government for their survival so they will willingly allow themselves to be manipulated by the government, here is a sample.

Eventually the world would tire of showing the same old stuff. How different would a DW or BBC watcher find Hindi wailing as different from Bengali wailing, or Kannada wailing? Even the Chinese may lose interest in whipping a dead ass.

As for "I can only hope this short term pain gives the necessary impetus for the people and the country to learn from the suffering and do better" -- this is as much true for America, as it is for any country with a broken healthcare access, and medical-care at a profit. We are hoping that the lessons learned from the suffering of Indians would help the idiots voting in our legislative bodies.

The only thing that is going happen after all this collective wailing and chest-beating is that the people in power are going to promptly forget this and go back to business as usual. History will repeat itself.

I am not a BJP fan ... lets get that straight first

There were people before BJP who cross redlights every.single.time and smirk about it.
There were people before BJP who struggled up their scooters and half of their auto onto pedestrian walks to go thru traffic

Oh and our bunch also takes pride in not giving way to ambulances.

There were people before BJP who join the queue in the middle saying they are family of a person before them ( once I asked if she knew her brothers name and she didnt and the brother was very indifferent to her too)

In India, majority somehow think rules apply for everyone else except them. When the whole world is in a burrow waiting for the virus to disappear; India was secretly waiting for its leaders to declare 'Virus is for others not for us' and guess what; they did. What do you expect out of an Indian govt ( or govts).

Its an era where international news is known everywhere... even a villager knows whats happening here in the UK... yet personally they want to be roaming free.

People wanted to sneak and BJP wanted votes. Time for partying right?
However, virus has invited itself to this party. I mean who were they kidding.:shakehead:

In the west, women are less affected [ severity of symptoms, hospitalization, death..] by Covid than men. Apparently in a few countries [vietnam, nepal, india] that is not the case:
Global data indicate higher COVID-19 case fatality rates among men than women. Most countries with available data indicate a male to female case fatality ratio higher than 1·0, ranging up to 3·5 in some cases

However, the COVID-19 case fatality rate is higher in women than men in a few countries, such as India, which is one of the worst-affected countries. As of Sept 30, 2020, India had more than 6·4 million recorded COVID-19 cases.
In India, the COVID-19 case fatality rate among men is 2·9% and 3·3% among women.
    .....
These findings are surprising since global data have indicated that both biological factors (stronger immune responses) and behavioural risk factors (eg, smoking, and other lifestyle habits) place men at a greater risk for health complications and death as a consequence of COVID-19.
    More in the Lancet Study

Here is more (but from a different study of both genders in Delhi, Manipur and Kerala):
General obesity as assessed from BMI, GMT, and fat percentage was found to be highest among Delhi females. Whereas central obesity assessed from WHR, WHtR and CI were found to be maximum among Manipur females. Although WHtR was more among Delhi females as compared to Kerala females, the latter had a higher value of CI. With the exception of GMT and fat percentage, statistically significant differences were observed between different ethnic groups for other indices.

Although the differences for blood pressure were not statistically significant, Kerala females had a highest value of both systolic and diastolic blood pressure followed by Manipur females and Delhi females. Respiratory efficiency as assessed by FEV1.0, FER, and PEFR were found maximum among Manipur females followed by Delhi and Kerala females. Ethnic differences for FEV1.0, FVC, PEFR and BHT were found statistically significant. Source: Ethnicity, obesity and health pattern among Indian population
