You were absolutely right. These kind of muslims should be sent to Pakistan. They use all the benefits of being an Indian, get good education and finally make fun of Indians and Hindus

Off late, the attack on hinduism is rising. Some of them are really painful, they hurt a lot. To talk about cow is one thing, to make scathing attacks on our Gods is another. Not just that, in the name of secularism, bringing practices that are obviously not allowed and calling names on Rama and Krishna. In a public forum, one person made much more of the relationship between Krishna and Arjuna ( I hope you get what I am saying ) and then went on menstruation and how it's okay to visit temples when menstruating, even making allegations that women are kicked out if they go on a menstruation day. Who the hell will know whether women are on periods? Unless these people actually advertise the same. People of other religions getting involved in Hinduism and calling it superstition while devoutly following their own agenda. People can do anything for money and two minutes of public attention. Personally, I wouldn't care two hoots but social media is just being abused to promote false agendas.

This media is becoming so cheap nowadays. Inspite of Hindus being majority they portray Hindus very badly. Tat doesn’t mean they can hurt other religions but for the sake of TRP why to hurt religious sentiments.
Will they keep quite if the opp was done?

It’s nothing but media is being paid by so called parties to bring unrest between religions.
We as Indians, should understand this silly thing and get united irrespective of religion, caste etc. Respect each other’s beliefs and sentiments.

It's not just media, some individuals with vested interests. This person calling himself/herself a devotee of Durga Devi and launching a scathing attack on Lord Krishna, their posting indicates they are devotees of neither, but still...

Geeta, I am sure anyone practicing hinduism will be very offended by such harsh jokes. Now thinking back, within the community how many of us are ridiculed for our skin, our background, our regional upbringing, the books we read, the movies we watch the language we speak etc etc. In the name of jokes people do cross limits. If within a community this is the case then what to say across borders. Everyone should be aware of the discrimination and the hurt it causes to fellow human beings just at Rihana mentioned including the jokes on certain community should not be encouraged or practiced.

"With or without it [religion] you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."
    - Nobel Prize winning physicist, Steven Weinberg

When good people, people we know for long and consider as good human beings, when such good people and religion are put together, sometimes (not always), sometimes they lose sight of the other side of the arguments, or that there might be something worth changing in the religion.

I have not had to deal with random insensitive forwards as people know better than to send me those. But, I have found that some believers have to bring in God even when explicitly requested not to. A casual invocation or the Lord or the Lord's blessing is one thing. I myself say "God bless you" or "Have faith in God" if the occasion warrants it. I have two friends who insist on bringing in God into the conversation n times, and send me prayer videos, and repeatedly say the equivalent of "God be with you" while patting my back and caressing the top of my head, even though they are not much older than me. When requested again to desist, they respond sagely and patiently with a "This has helped me. I hope it will help you too." Appalls me when they repeat it in 1-1 whatsapp even after a brief and polite request in whatsapp.

In matters of religion and faith, if a person says "Don't send me x" or "I found such joke or list compilation offensive" the other person should simply back off. How hard can that be.

This is an unfortunate point of view. "They" use benefits because like any Indian citizen they are entitled to it. What should we do with criminal Hindus like rapist babas and con-artist gurus? Where should they be sent? Why should Muslims be held to a higher standard of citizenship than Hindus? A criminal Indian muslim is still an Indian, subject to Indian laws, and making fun of someone is not a crime. Telling minorities to get out every time we take offense only serves to weaken their already fragile sense of belonging to the nation.

@GeetaKashyap You should not feel bad about losing an old friendship in this case. You raised a reasonable and polite objection. Were he a friend he would have been sensitive towards your beliefs. His reaction was callous and inconsiderate. That he chose to stick to his guns rather than have a civil discussion with a dear friend of his wife is a clear indication of the sort of person he is. You are better off without such a friendship.

I am not sure I got the complete context here. I would personally never send something religious to someone if they don't like it or are uncomfortable with it. I wouldn't force my views on them. Someone I knew in the past, was not in a good state of mind and when I switched on a prayer song in the car, she told me to stop it. I immediately did, but I asked her why she found it offensive. She said she was disturbed by it and she did not believe in it. Please note that she was not of a different religion or community but was disturbed. So, I did not play the song again. That said, I would find it offensive if someone not just made fun, but is actually abusing religion in the name of logic, by saying that XYZ god did something bad is not what I find amusing. It is okay to not have faith in something but abusing - nope.

Yes. But they should also have patriotic feelings towards India. How many muslims are working in Indian army?
