We'll be relocating to muscat in 3 months. -My kid is 1.5 yrs now. and wish to know about Indian CBSE Schools at Muscat (Age criteria for admission and when'll they start issuing admission form). -What are the utensils do i need to carry (like pressure cooker, idly plates)? -Market area in Ruwi to get indian items? Ilites in Muscat Kindly help me to know present cost of living in Muscat(Ruwi) like how much Omani Rial would be need for household chores for a month (a couple with kid) Thanks
i am visiting muscat right now, and i feel the cost of living has rised as is the case all over the world..but is a nice place to live with family. . he is 1.5.. you still have some time. the application is issued somewhere in december, and it is a common form for all schools, you list out your preference, and you will be called in..the age criteria is 3 or 3+ i am not sure..i remember it was 3 completed it march..?? long time actually you get everything here. if your company gives you one time relocation allowance you can bring everything from there. or settling allowance, you can pick them here. bring everything with a flat base. it proves better with the stoves/ranges available here. you get good crockery both ceramic/melamine here.. you get indian items in all the supermarkets, as there is a lot of indian population..by indian i mean even the idli/dosa batter depends on the family, and the life style.whatever said, the first two months will be a little more and you will learn to stabilise your spending. there are people who make do with 100ro while others with more than 250,,
Thankyou Shanvy, for your detailed reply. We are getting settling allowance. Could you tell me about medical facilities there.. Since coming there with my kid, need to know about pediatric clinics and about vaccinations (like wat our indian pediatricians prescribe) Thanks
if your company gives your medical for family then it will also have a list of hospitals linked to it..or if it is insurance you can have your choice. some companies have their own clinics with doctors, who recommend to specialists too..so it depends on your company. you have good hospitals here..apollo, kims, atlas, badr al sama to name a few..
hi shanvy i m an indian and we are planning to move to muscat in 2 months....can you please tell me if there are any dress code for females there.
no dress code..as long as it is decent.. you can wear the regular tshirts/jeans, churidars, saree...skirts.
i have seen people wear it since there are western expats..but again anything that does not cross the line...
thanks for the quick reply...really appreciate it...1 more thing...i have done my mba...is it possible for me to get a job there?
