My understanding is that yoghurt in most cases is pasteurised and all the good and bad microbes are killed. Live culture yoghurt is pasteurised yoghurt with the good guys added back into it. Curd of course is what we set at home and has lactobacillus (not sure which other). By populating the gut with good bacteria you can actually improve bowel habits. If live culture yoghurt is not available, a probiotic yoghurt or just plain probiotics is good. You may get those at a health food store. I will wait for others to chime in with popular brands.

My daughter is 6months old..For the past 5 months she use to take my milk alone. Now I just started giving her NAN..(formula feed)....The problem is she passes stool in green color with small thread which is of black color (like little worms which is not moving) in it...I consulted pediatrician and gave her nutrolin syrup. The color of stool changed to yellow but the worm like substance were present. Is it any worms or could it be related to any stomach problems???

These are the stuffs that helped my LO - he is 7 mths old - the consistency of food can be different for your LO:
Eating banana, soaked and pureed Raisins, boiled and mashed Asparagus, Earth's best Oats and Barley mixed cereal, cooked and mashed carrots - try one of these at a time to see if she has any reaction or if it helps.. For some reason, mashing instead of pureeing veggies helped in our case.

    -PK.

prune juice is a sure shot....give ti a try....
now this is not a permanent solution though, u got to make sure she gets enough fiber, if possible incorporate flax in her diet...wheatbran if u get just add to her porridge
fiber from fruits, oats etc should help
