Confession and holy dip- a stray thought.

Confession, a Christian way and Holy Dip in the sacred river Ganges a Hindu way of seeking forgiveness for all the sins committed knowingly or unknowingly, seems to justify the sins.

If sins cannot be undone, how come the sinner can be forgiven? It's favoring a criminal over a righteous.

The rules, sooner or later will punish the criminals depending upon the witnesses produced but what about the crimes committed for which no witnesses are found? And what about the victim of such sins?

A Hindu has to pay for his sins in next birth, confessions, holy dips or not. Really

A person will get reward based on his deeds. Only good begets good. Nature will punish the sinners. This is universal truth. Lets leave the reward part to nature is what spirituality says.

    Dear Hariji,
Sins do not go away by confession or holy dip.
If one repent and do not commit again sins that is a solace. He would not sin again. Even that is not foolproof. Mind is a monkey.
Introspection from time to time is needed.
Next birth, past birth...not known much about it.

Those who remember their sins are expected to commit lesser than those who don't know they are doing. Isn't it??

:hello:Whether one confesses behind the curtain or dip deep in (un)Holy waters, their karma + or -ve is not expected to be just washed off as one is expected to be rewarded or awarded for the balance of karma. When +vets are exhausted the life is pushed out from heaven so also when -vets exhausted life is back probably at the feet of the lord. A life without balance of karma is difficult to attain!
    Thanks and Regards.
    God Bless.

Well, may be at the time of committing a sin or even after committing a sin, one does not consider it a sin, there is no question of remembering also. But yes, once his conscience starts pricking him, he seeks forgiveness and vow not to commit such sins. However, there is general tendency to take a holy dip for sins committed unknowingly.

The theory of Karma goes side by side with the myth of life after death or rebirth. Most seem to believe that the score be settled in this life only as there may not be another life both for the sinner and the sinned.
Well Gandhi said hate the sin, not the sinner.
