A nice post I felt like sharing *Comparisons* Shweta covered a distance of 10 km in one hour. Akash covered the same distance in one and a half hours. Which of the two is faster and healthier?? Of course our answer will be Shweta. What if we say that Shweta covered this distance on a prepared track while Akash did it by walking on a sandy path??? Then our answer will be Akash. But when we come to know that Shweta is 50 years old while Akash is 25 years old?? Then our answer will be Shweta again. But we also come to know that Akash's weight is 140 kg while Shweta's weight is 65 kg. Again our answer will be Akash As we learn more about Akash and Shweta, our opinions and judgments about who is better will change. The reality of life is also similar. We form opinions very superficially and hastily, due to which we are not able to do justice to ourselves and others. Opportunities vary. Life is different. Resources differ. Problems change. Solutions are different. Therefore the excellence of life is not in *comparing* with anyone. *Believe in yourself.* *And do your best.*
Earlier in my life when I was in service, I had this habit of comparing myself with others. I have outgrown this tendency now and it is rather late in my life when I have very little to strive tand achieve. Wish I had read the a few decades back!
There are two ways of learning life's lessons. One is from our own experience which is quite time consuming. The second is from others' experience. The second is now much easier with the terrific advancement in communication technology
Volumes have been written by stalwarts veterans here about “compare” & comparison . Using COMPARE as search word in IL WEBSITE search with member name as @jayasala42 would yield five pages of forty posts and she had comprehensive in-depth analysis as to merits & demerits of comparison in life. A clear picture emerges if one patiently study these posts. Rash conclusions can be avoided but one’s conclusion was rash or otherwise known only after passage of time. A decision taken would be right and good only at a particular time with complete set of data pertaining to that period. Data analysis & AI techniques comes to aid the best decision in a given time after comparing millions of data pertaining to decision making involving comparison. Can the epics Ramayana & Mahabharata be compared? A dad about forty chided his boy of 12 , “at your age, see i was earning while studying”. The boy retorted, “ at your age Rajiv Gandhi was PM of India. You are still a clerk”.
So true @Cheeniya sir. No two people can ever be compared because we don't know their background, circumstances, state of mind, perspective and approach to life and life experiences. Their reaction to any event life throws at them is based on all these and more. Again, a very interesting share from you.
