IBM Cognos just itself is an Ocean. It has many different tools for various business needs like 'Planning' for forecasting budget,sales etc.,'PowerPlay' & 'ReportNet' for report generation for users etc.,. You need to have SQL and PSQL skills to understand, desing and develop apps using these tools.Documentation can be downloaded from IBM cognos support web site. If you already have the software, you can also get various technical documentations from their help menu. Hope it helps you.
