coconut chutney in lunch box

    My son wants to take idlis in his lunch box,but he wants to take them with coconut chutney.I am worried that its summertime and chutney may get spoilt.am i worrying unneccessarily.does chutney stay fresh in lunch box?

    Hi abinaya, there r chances that it may get spoilt.. wen I was at school, I used to take salt in a tiny container and mix it with the chutney just before lunch time. It stays good that way. U could try that.

    In my experience, I found that it tends to get a bit sour after a few hours, other than that, it tastes just as good as usual.

    Add more of roasted gram. Coconut is anyway a little oily, so with more gram, the chutney is tastier and lasts longer. I hope it works for you. And yeah, my Mom always suggests a tempering on the chutney.
