Cleaning Toddler's Teeth

My son is 16 months and has got five teeth. Last two days there's a bad smell coming from his mouth. I got him a baby brush and just clean with plain water but still the smell persists. I'm not sure of using tooth paste till the time he can spit water which he doesn't know still.

So how to clean his teeth and get rid of bad smell? What is the rotine you followed? Please advise.

This is floride free, safe if baby swallows. till 4 years it is fine.
You can get it in target also.

Actually even before teeth comes to baby, you should start brushing with finger/brush and little tooth paste, I used this brush till 2.5 years for my son.

Aqua fresh (Pal tooth) 0 to 2 year tooth paste. It good and protect the tooths.

We used that brand...no any harms...kids like to brush with it...u try....We bought it in Kuwait...

Bad breath from a toddler of 16 months is not normal. Toddlers are not supposed to brush. It could be something in his stomach. Take him to your pediatrician.

Have you thought about changing the toothbrush? That plastic toothbrushes are not appropriate for children. Here is the bamboo toothbrush I've found. It's 100% organic and doesn't contain toxins which can be found in plastic toothbrushes. Bamboo cannot cause any allergic reactions or other unpleasant symptoms and it's definitely better for child's hygiene.
