Sacred Heart Mat. Hr. Sec. School


A hundred years has passed since the foundation stone of Sacred Heart School was laid at Church Park, Madras, in 1909.

In commemoration of the centennial of this pioneering and renowned educational institution of Chennai, the Alumni Association is undertaking the long desired and much anticipated task of compiling the history of SacredHeartSchool in the form of a book, which will be released on the 10<SUP>th </SUP>of January, 2009.

This is being done with the support and encouragement of Sr. Marie Anne, Principal, Sacred Heart School.

Several alumni have volunteered their time and energy to seek out archival material, interview former students and teachers in order to compile an authentic and undeniably fascinating account of Sacred Heart School.

The text will be integrated and edited by the foremost authority in the history of Madras, Mr. S.Muthiah.

In order to make the content as rich and educative of the school's history as possible, the Alumni Association of Sacred Heart Mat. Hr. Sec. School requests you to send us any factual information, interesting anecdotes, photographs (with caption) and documentation of school that you would like to share.

We especially require information for the years 1909-1927, as there is a dearth of records of this time.

This would be of invaluable help in completing the narrative and creating a lasting and unique testimonial to the school we know and love. Please send your inputs for the book before the 31<SUP>st</SUP> of March, 2008.
