My parents have used garudavega in the past mostly to send sweets and snacks to the kids for festivals. Works and less than a week if I remember right. Not sure if its exactly the cheapest.

Post in Sulekha for someone coming from that city, and willing to carry the items for you. Mention the obvious like you are willing to let them inspect the items, and what you are willing to pay for it.

Anything else pretty much ends up being much more expensive than the items itself. I think cheapest is checking what an airlines charges for an extra checked-in bag, and finding someone willing to carry that for you.

And most items are either not really that much needed or can be bought in the U.S. For example: https://www.amazon.com/Tabakh-Chapati-Flatbread-Tortilla-Presser/dp/B009QR7VOG/ : )

Why? If the security part is taken care, and one makes sure one is not carrying any weapons or pickles that can leak, it is win-win?

JAG, Garudavega has good rates! Now I want to get the Amar Chitra kathas again, just for the affordable rates. : )
