I actually tried both CNN, NYT already. One is my browser home page (!) and NYT I got redirected from elsewhere. Looking for actual links to good articles about the amendment bill. Want to read up before meeting some old friends. : )
What is Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019: All you need to know about CAB Bill 2019 | India News - Times of India
^^I thought TOI quality had gone down in the past 10-15 years? Is that a good link? Sorry, not being picky.. just have limited time to read and sift through links.
Actually come to think of it, most of the Western media. They have never forgiven Modi for the time when he was Gujarat CM.
It isn’t modi. It’s India in general. Remember the NYT toon on ISRO? BBC had some interesting things to say about India in a program about India’s space mission and all the poor unfortunate people. I believe there aren’t any poor unfortunate souls in Great Britain. When the indigenously built high speed train Vande Bharath express, had a malfunction on day 2, cnn wrote an entire front page article on it. When the train was launched nobody said anything. Oh and VB is doing really well and keeping time too. When India won the cricket World Cup CNN had an article about how this country with so many “poor” people are spending so much on cricket matches. They don’t seem to have anything to say about the 45 something million uninsured Americans around then and people still able to pay for football stadiums. WaPo has consistently carried biased articles about India. I’m considering unsubscribing to WaPo because Bharka Dutt - the WaPo special correspondent from India is not who I call an unbiased media person. Remember the 26/11 fiasco?
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...w-citizenship-law-puts-india-war-with-itself/ Sample of her biased reporting.
I felt this was a from a ground , not so biased view I had no idea why Assam was so up against it and this gave me the context. The foreign media reports seem so far seem biased to me. That from one who is not pro-Modi. From what I read so far, it is not the CAA itself that is that troubling. But the precedence it sets. And the fact that NRC is being set up for the whole country with no transparency/ outline on how, why and what yet. And this fueling of passion on both ends - creating a divided country - all for what purpose ? To show you are a benevolent nation ? The irony ! The uneasiness is unsettling ...
