Hi Chandni Chowk in Delhi is famous all over India. There are a number of wholesale traders. Each street specialises in a particular trade. Kucha Dariba Kalan specialises in Gold and Silver jewellery. Nai Sarak is famous for second hand book stores and all kinds of stationery items including wedding cards. New books too are available here. The street in front of the Town Hall is famous for spectacle frames. You also have shops selling suting and shirting materials. Paranthe wali gali is famous for its paranthas. There are quite a variety and very filling too. Then there is a famous jalebi wala over here. This is only a brief idea. The rest you will discover when you land in Delhi
Hii raminderkaur !! thanx. Plz u can help me also? Plz let me know from where I can buy lehanaga? Any specific place for that too?
Hi Gaqua77 Apart from the Old Delhi area, you can get lehengas at almost every good market. In Lajpat Nagar in South Delhi you can easily get a top of the line lehenga. I believe there are at least 50 shops stitching and selling lehengas there. Similarly there are good shops in Karol Bagh, Sarojini Nagar Market and the South Extension market. If you want to order online, you can easily locate at least 20 shops selling lehengas online. There are plenty of designers too, who would design an exclusive lehenga just for you. Hope I have been able to help you! Do let me know if you need any more info.
Hey, Paranthe wali gali is an all time favorite for anyone living in Delhi and nearby regions......You also have a famous Dahi Bhalle, Kulfi shops and some good mouth watering cuisines..... A very trustworthy shop for all wedding stuff from where we did our shopping is Sari Sangam, they are 4 brothers , all have their independent shops..... Just remember to bargain and go down to thousands, for example if a lehenga is around 45K, tell them you'll give around 35K and finally you will negotiate around 38K...try it out and I am sure you'll enjoy shopping as well as eating here.
Hi Raminder kaur is right about the paranthewali gali. Whenever I am in the area, I try to visit Paranthewali Gali. This lane in Chandni Chowk area has around 5 shops which are selling paranthas since 19th century. These shops are still running. My favourite shop is of course Pandit Gaya Prasad Shiv Charan Paranthewala. The shop was started in 1872. Today the shop sells around 25 different stuffed paranthas like paneer and rabri. The paranthas start at Rs 35 and go upto Rs 50 depending on the stuffing.
