The second edition of much awaited Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), which brings around 100 actors across the country to compete and test their cricket skills in a Twenty20 cricket format, will start on January 13 in Sharjah.

The Telugu Warriors, Chennai Rhinos, Mumbai Heroes, Kerala Strikers, Bengal Tigers and Karnataka Bulldozers are this year's teams. The inaugural match will be held between Mumbai Heroes and Chennai Rhinos in Sharjah cricket stadium.
While actor Vishnu Manchu owns Telugu Warriors, L. Ganga Prasad of G.V.R. Infra Projects is the owner of Chennai Rhinos, and Ashok Kheny of A.K.K. Entertainment has Karnataka Bulldozers. Bengal Tigers is owned by Boney Kapoor and his actress-wife Sridevi, while Kerala Strikers is owned by actor Mohanlal.

"The league is also growing in size. Last year we had four teams, this year we've got six teams and next year we are going to have eight teams and then we are going to end with ten teams. We are going to introduce the Marathi and Punjabi team next year. Then there will be a Bhojpuri and a Gujarati team. We plan to cover all the film industries of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" />India and it is a great platform for bringing together directors and producers," filmmaker Sohail Khan said.

Hi Anurar
I had been there on Friday to see SALU bhai who was looking at his best! It was a tie right...bet. telgue and Mumbai? Wasn't clear as we had to leave before the announcements were made. Genalie acted like a kid run away from school, Kangana was ok though over painted. Bobby looked quite simple.
Except for a few empty seats the match went off well. I guess the media-hype should have been stronger to avoid those empty seats. I loved the MARYAJ Perfumes the sponsors branding, it gave the stadium a very festive look. Couldn't be there for the Sat's match as I had work on Sun and kids had school too.How did it go on Sat?

VISHNU VARDHAN INDURI Founder and Managing Director

It all started in February 2003 when we organised the first Film Stars T20 Cricket with Telugu Stars even before the first official Twenty20 matches were played on 13 June 2003. Trying to fit in 3 matches in one day brought about the T20 format way ahead of time setting a trend where stars fight the game of cricket with a sportive spirit.

I had been pondering with the idea of having a Cricket Tournament between film stars from different languages for years then finally we arrived with the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) incorporating the T20 League format in Oct 2010.

According to many, the very thought of bringing together 60 Artists from 4 different languages was a dream far from reality but it has been possible only because of the passion that the Stars have for Cricket.
Our major challenge for Season 1 was to put up a show which is no less than any of the successful leagues but within the available resources and time frame.

The strength of CCL is the support we derive from the Team Franchisee Owners and Cricket loving artists whose commitment towards the game is commendable.

With the success of Season 1, we all believe that CCL will only get bigger and better over the years. Just like any Reality TV Show, CCL too will come and go in seasons; it will only be more real; more exciting; and more glamorous.

The second edition of Celebrity Cricket League(CCL) that kicked off in Sharjah witnessed Chennai Rhinos and Mumbai Heroes facing each other.

The defending champions Chennai Rhinos bowled first ad restricted their opponents for just 141 runs. However in reply, they lost quick wickets and ended up on a dismal note.

However Chennai skipper Vishal said, ' we started scratchy. But sure we will improve ion the coming matches to register victories.

Excitement gripped the air when the Telugu Warriors and the Mumbai Heroes clashed at the Sharjah International Stadium on Friday night.

* The Telugu Warriors batted first and lost an early wicket. However, this setback was soon balanced when Akhil Akkineni came in to bat. He shared the Man Of The Match title with Mumbai Heroes’ Varun Badola. The match was, however, tied.

* The face-off between the Telugu Warriors and Mumbai Heroes never ended with the match. There was another face-off of sorts when the brand ambassadors of the two teams, Genelia and Charmee, competed in their cheering for their respective teams. The two were seen jumping and cheering for their teams but observers say that it looked more like they were competing with each other to grab attention.

* Close associates at the Celebrity Cricket League say that Salman Khan looked extremely disturbed during the match. “He kept a low profile and looked worried. He wasn’t his usual cheerful self.”

Salman Khan experiences tense moments

CCL II got off to a rocking start in Sharjah. The opening match between Telugu Warriors and Mumbai Heroes was a thriller but it sadly ended in a draw.

Those who missed the opening ceremony lost out on Devi Sri Prasad's performance that had the stadium pulsating. His 'Dhinka Chika' had the crowds on their feet! Once the teams came out to play it was only cricket on their mind. Venkatesh of Telugu warriors won the toss and opted to bat but with the loss of early wickets, they could only manage 167. A104 partnership by Varun Badola and Raja Bherwani of Mumbai Heroes saw them through but the game ended in a tie.
