    for cooking any dal related items like sambar, can we use anything other than toor dal
    i have beeen people using it especially north indians
    what do you think?

    Can you elaborate/explain on what you mean by 'anything' other than toor dal?
    Your question is very vague.

    I use masoor dal, moong dal for sambhar and it tastes the same.
