I buy the finished chapatis from local store where they make them and then store them frozen in a plastic zip bag. I reheat using the toaster setting in toaster oven but you could also use just a regular toaster. They come out very nice this way.
Ladies, i will be going for work from the coming month, i always wanted to ask this question but didnt know who should i ask,but after coming across this thread i feel good that now my query will be answered ..... My maid makes chapati at afternoon , my question is can i take these chapatis the next day in my tiffin? how should i store it overnight & do i heat it before packing in tiffin in the morning?
Yes, even I used to reheat chapatis for 5-10 sec , depending upon the number of chapatis, but have to consume quickly.
Ask your maid to store the chapatis in the fridge when they become room temperature. store the chapatis in a air tight box or even in your tiffen box which you are going to take for office. ok? The next day you can take the box as it is and at the lunch time you can heat it in MW.They will be fresh and soft. try and give me a feed back
Thankyou Krishnaamma, In the morning when i will take that tiffin box containing chapatis directly from fridge ,will it not get spoilt during my commute to office, sorry just had this doubt so thought of asking...
Dear Generous..........you can very well use chapathis for next day......have you net heard, if we go for long trips.....we used to take Roti's/chappathi's only....and i just used to sprinkle little water on top of it and reheat it.....it will be soft only....i used to store and do this way
Yes, even I reheat Chapatis, but I noticed that if you reheat it by covered in something like tissue paper or thin clean cloth it is better for health. I sprinkle some water on the tissue paper and it has to be consumed within very less time, it is as fresh as it was while cooked.
