Through our growing years, we used to see mom make this with leftover rice, but she used to eat it on her own & never gave to husband and kids - so I think even my mom's gen thought that it was something that's leftover and preserved with drinking water and not fit for "office/school going people of the family" !! My mom still eats leftover rice from night in the morning! After learning about biodiversity of the gut, I asked my parents exactly what they used to do with the leftover rice. And learnt this rice kanji "recipe". Note - We dont boil/heat in the morning, we only add warm or cold stuff to it so that we dont kill the good bacteria! You can eat with buttermilk/curd or lime pickle and green chillies ! If you eat onions, you can add some chopped raw onions to this.
