Single women can adopt in India. I think single men can only adopt a male child. There is an age limit too. If the child is one then the patent should not be over 45.
She has never been married. Failed relationships, yes. She mentioned that adoption has set her free because she no longer feels the need to get married just because she wants to be a mother.
After retirement , do you think you will have the energy to keep up with a child ? Raising a child is a hell lot of work . Post retirement you will be having your own health issues so how do you plan on raising a child ? If you want to invest in health , sleep, food and exercise then focus on that instead of adoption . Having a child means losing some of these things atleast for a good few years . You cant have it all .
That is so true. For long term I am trying to see what my options are. If I have good support system and have saved enough money.
I am aware one cannot have it all, hence I'm focusing on health, sleep, food and exercise for future. God-willing if I am still healthy post retirement, then I can consider adoption.
Dear @ChennaiExpress Yes, single parents can adopt a baby.... make sure that you adopt the legal way, because offlate there are lot of child trafficking and illegal ways of giving away a child and later inviting problem. First and foremost make up your mind, if you are physically, mentally and emotionally ready to adopt a child, because once you do, its a lifelong commitment and there is no looking back. Second, if you stay in India or an indian staying abroad register with CARA- Central Adoption Resource Authority, most of your queries will be answered in this site. Hugs to you and may your wish come true, all the best dear
One of my professors adopted two girls from China, she never married but wasn’t against it either. She told me that she never met someone she wanted to share her life with plus the kids and job kept her busy. Another woman I know is a second generation Indian (Indian-American), she adopted a girl from India. Both these women were in mid 30s when they adopted.
