Calcium / Iron supplements

    For infant calcium is not necessary. My doctor said that only. I have given only multivitamin drops. Not calcium..

    thanks everyone....I'm not planning to start these supplements for now. I'll take a second opinion from another pediatrician.

    I met with another ped(my DD's first ped) today related to my DD's constipation issues. She asked me not to give these supplements for now until her issue is sorted out. Later, I can start them though it's not necessary. Too much of calcium/iron can cause constipation.

    Regarding weight gain, if there was a proven deficiency of calcium/iron, it could have an indirect effect on baby's appetite and so weight gain might get impacted.

    So I'm not going to start these supplements for now. Thanks for all your inputs, ladies....

    @karanu Thanks for updating us with this information.

    How will they find out if there is a proven deficiency of calcium? Will they be doing tests? Or is it from the mothers genes?

    Yes baby need more calcium this time because of teething process my son is 10 month old and from 7 month he is taking calcium 1teaspoon daily....
