Hi Everyone, What are the south indian recipes you are all giving for school goer (1st and 5th standard). During night time , have time so can sit and feed them however morning and afternoon is a big mess. PS: they are picky eaters Please share.
OP, My son was a picky eater and he disliked messy rice based foods, upma, poha etc so I relied on drier finger foods like, aloo paratha, onion paratha- both cut into convenient sized pieces, paddu (gunthapangalu/kulipaniyaram), a variety of sandwiches, chapati smeared with ghee and sugar or a little pickle juice and tightly rolled and cut into 2 pieces(!) etc. Ultimately, I tailored foods that he could pick up and eat carelessly without messing or paying special attention. Rice, upma etc call for attention and careful eating. Active kids find it taxing to sit in a place, focus and eat. See if this is the issue with your kid.
My mom used to do this wen I was kid. Even now I do this to satisfy my taste buds. No curry can replace this
the thing is am doing what i can , also to the level best. However the comments and reactions from my( spouse and inlaws etc) makes me feel hectic am in IT and they always find faults on me. If i cook what they say, thats not satisfying my children , they are something different if we speak to them in such a way, they will eat whatever we give.
My girl used to like Parathas and roots, so I used to make sure to add a veggie to the dough n prepare Parathas for her For example adding grated carrot, beetroot, palak purée, boiled n puréed corn, rajma, fine chopped methi leaves.. Always I make sure to add ajwain.... I smear it with ghee and grated or powdered jaggery powder. When it comes to rice, she likes rasam, and pulao...
We have habit of dosa on every Sunday which can help me Monday too.. some times I make punugulu for snacks with this.. Rest of the days raagi dosa, ravva dosa, sabudana dosa, Pongal, idli, atta dosa and upma varieties Either I got used to it/grown with those recipes I feel easy and instant. Sandwiches, chapathi iineed to put more time. Dosa mix in 5 mins, make in ten mins for two. Pongal just washing and tempering.. On more thing I consider are they nutritious and can fill their stomach till lunch. So this is how my mornings run..
For my mini idlis I add grated carrot, sometimes palak purée and beet purée to make it colorful and healthy....
