Domestic commitments like having a baby or bringing up kids requires one to take a break from one's career and none knows how long this would have to pulled. How can you utilise this time effectively so that you dont end up feeling cut off? Can you give me suggestions from your experiences.

    Hi Rose,

Keep yourself technically updated.. serves 2 purpose. You will not feel lost when you restart your career. And you will not feel wasting your time while on the break.

Follow your dreams/hobbies while on the break..

Have a clear schedule for the day, and you will be amazed at how much you can do in 24 hrs! Stick to a routine that way you can efficiently prevent any 'time leak' and feel more productive.

    Have a great time!:thumbsup

One other thing you could so is make use of the time to do some certification if applicable. You can very well manage the baby AND many other things if you know how to manage your time.

    Hi rose,
    I agree to mstrue

Taking a break from career is a luxury that only women may be able to enjoy:thumbsup. But, this period can get depressing if we do not utilize our time.
Hence, plan for technical courses/higher studies/personal developement like language or hobby classes etc. You wil ltotally enjoy your break if you get involved with other things.

    Good Luck
