Boredom As I sit in the hall (watching TV) The most mundane of all, I wonder- 'After all, what is this life?' Cooking, eating, waiting, sleeping- Sleeping, cooking, eating, waiting. Waiting for the children, Waiting for the husband, Endless waiting, worth not anything. No friends, no passtime, No humour, no jokes, Nor leisure , nor walks Nor pleasure, nor talks. Hopeless waiting endless tension. Worthless worries, senseless sorrows. How long is this wait? It's left only to fate. And still i'm waiting- Waiting for the day- When i'll have my say, Waiting for the day- When I'll have my way. And- That day in my life- My greatest day! This poem was written on 30th May 1996 and when I look back I see that I have had my day after all though its been a long wait. Still that day too is not permanent and that is the philosophy of life! Nothing is Permanent except Change.(ARUNARC please note)
hi malathy, Good one. and after 11 years still holds good for lot of people... i am from the small tribe who never gets bored....even if i am left alone for weeks, i will never be bored...if have books to read.
Hi! Malathy, Let me give you a little tip.....whenever this boredom bug 'bugs' you just go ahead and log on to our very own IL wesite. Boredom will flee.....as for me there is never a dull moment now that I've discovered IL. To be self contained is something one has to cultivate.Like shanvy said to curl up with a book is another great way. Ever since joining IL and interacting everyday with on line friends, new vistas have opened up and I've gained a lot of information on a myriad topics. Regards, PAULINAMy 2cents
Dear Shanthi, Thank you for the prompt and first fb. By the way, , you were supposed to attend the get-together at my mom's place in Pallikkaranai. I heard that you were not doing well. I pray for your speedy recovery. Regards, Malathi
Thank you Paulina for your good suggestion! I wrote this poemat a time when internet was a rarity in this part of the globe and Indusladies was non-existent at that time! The gals of these days are lucky! They have umpteen things to get away from boredom! Anyway we too have joined this league! Thank you for thefb. Regards, Malathi
