    Re: party menu

    Hi Lindsay

Welcome to the Indusladies community. My best wishes for your kid's birthday party and sure it would turn out to be a success.

In order to get effective responses, it is important to post the queries in the appropriate sub forum. As your query is based on planning a party menu, you would have got a good response had it been posted in the Indian Recipes forum or any of its sub-forums.

Ask our ILites in the specific forum to gt the maximum response.
Thanks for your understanding and all the best.

    Re: party menu

    Dear L Mohan,

You have a nice menu planned for the adults. But here are a few suggestions. you have two gravy subjis plus avial in the menu. Since avial and potato kurma are similar, why don't you skip one of them and make a dry curry like potato roast or beans to go with rasam and morkuzhambu?
For the kids: for starters, get the frozen french fries and make them, also if you are making ulundu vadai , am sure the kids will eat that too. For their main meal, how about plain cheese pizza? or make puris instead of chapati or naan as they will like that more. Am sure you will have juice and chips etc...

Hope this helps. Good luck with the party.

My best wishes to your son on his birthday.

    How does this menu look

Three Bean salad with carrot and cucumber
    Mushroom Biryani
    Naan
    Chana Masala
    Curd rice ,pickle
    Omlette Rolls
    Gulab jamun with ice cream
    Lemon Juice
    B'day cake
Most kids are around 2-2.5 yrs.I wonder kids of this age(indians) love pizza. Is pizza a must?

    dear supriya,

thats a good menu. no need for pizza since the kids are only 2.00. have finger foods for them like french fries if you want. mac and cheese, or make leass spicy pulao like peas pulao for them.

Your menu looks nice. Instead of lemon rice ..you can make pulaov or simple biriyani. and u can buy roti from store. For kids either you can have mac cheese or some finger foods , juice boxes, or pizza. Have fun

    Dear All,

I am back to interact in IL after a couple of months. I need your suggestions regarding the menu I have thought about for my little one's (going to turn 3) Birthday party.

I am planning to order food outside. It's going to be for lunch. I am expecting 40 adults + 30 kids.

    Mixed Veggie Pakora (for starters)
    Naan
    Paneer Butter Masala
    Chilli Chicken (gravy)
    Fried Rice
Noodles (this is esp for kids, though adults can also have)
Gulab Jamun w Icecream (for dessert)

    Sodas (for adults)
Packet juices (or) Fruit Punch (for Kids)
    Of course, Birthday Cake :)

I'm going to have a mix of vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians attending the party. So the 2 gravies as above. Also, I thought both the gravies would go well with Naan & Fried Rice.

Also, kids are so much used to Pizzas in the parties these days, so I thought Noodles would be different and they will like it. Kids should be good with Naan+Paneer and Noodles, along with cake and dessert, isn't it?

I need suggestions in these lines:
    1. Does this menu look complete, especially without curd rice?
    2. Does it take care of options for both kids and adults?
    3. Do I need to add or remove anything?

Look forward to hearing from you all.

    Rgds,
    Rohini
