Here are some attractions that have been voted as Birmingham's best places to visit. Please add others that you know of -

    1) Vulcan Park - Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and the forge, has stood guard over Birmingham since 1904. A 10-acre park surrounds the 56 foot statue and observation balcony that sits on a 124 foot pedestal. Visitors can take an elevator to the Vulcan's observation deck, which offers extraordinary views of the city.

    2) Birmingham Zoo - It has many events scheduled throughout the year. During the holiday season, there is Breakfast with Santa as well as the Zoolight Safari (from Dec 14-23, 26-30 5-9 pm). There is artificial snowfall and a lightshow to dazzle you.

    3) McWane Center - It is a hands-on science museum, that allows visitors to test physics principles, explore aquatic habitats, simulate space exploration etc.

    4) Southern Museum of Flight - It is a museum on aviation history with several interesting objects on display like the the first Delta Airlines plane, a 1910 Curtis Pusher and an F4 jet fighter.
