I think "real" poetry came through the yesteryear lyricists of the Hindi cinema. Every word, every sentence had a powerful effect on you. This is probably why the old songs are still remembered and liked by many. The songs of this day and age do nothing for me. In fact some simply sound vulgar and a total insult to poetry. Old songs wordings remain fresh in the mind and make you want to sing along every time a song is played. A few examples are: Mai zindagi ka sath nibhata chala Gaya, har fir ko dhuwen mei udaata Chalai Gaya Maine chand aur sitar on ki tammana ki thi.. Abhi na jao chor kar ke dil abhi bhara nahin O' dur ke musafir hum ko bhi sath le le re.. Wonderful lyrics are endless. Really miss those very talented writers.
