Congratulations Moogambigai for joining a dance class.
Yes, as you said you can achieve it if you really set your heart to it.

Is it too late to be good at bharatanatyam

im a 14 girl old girl in the US (15 next month) and I realized how passionate i am about dance (bharatantyam) but I just started taking lessons and I feel too behind and think I am too old to ever be good. All my friends began when they were 5 and are amazing. i'm very passionate and willing to put in a lot of effort but i still feel i am too late. I know I probably might not be able to complete my arangetram. but if i could, how many more years would i have to train to get there? How many hours a week should I train? (I will be a sophmore in high school next year))
    Thanks!

You still have bright chances dear. Come on start your classes. I joined bharathanatiyam class when I was 19. My dance teacher said I can go for arangetram in 3years time but I couldn't continue with the classes. It is very much possible.

    Good luck! :thumbsup

Re: Is it too late to be good at bharatanatyam

    dear andhragirl,
relax, you are only 14. if you continue your dance training without a break, for two to four classes a week, then you should be able to give your arangetram by the time you are 18.

and my guru and many other gurus say that arangetram is not really important in your dance career. it is only something that you do for your satisfaction.

    good luck and dance well!:thumbsup
