The chutta ennai usually picks up a cocktail of flavours from whatever was fried in it. Further the very act of raising oil to frying temperatures (about 190C) modifies its original flavour and taste. It is unhealthy and as is usual in such cases far more tasty.

    I like it.

    2. In a pan, add little oil, fry some onions, tomato, ginger piece, 2-3 cloves of garlic, 3-4 green chillies.

    3. Grind the above mixture to a thick paste.

    4. Heat some oil in the pan, add mustard seeds.

    5. Once they pop, add finely chopped onions.

    6.Fry till golden brown.

    7. Add chopped tomatoes and add little water

    8. Add the paste prepared (Step 2 and 3 above) .

    9. Cover and cook for sometime. Add salt to taste.

    10. Now add the cooked green peas.
