    Hello Friends,

I just thought of starting this thread to have collective knowledge of what we think can be improved in the treatment line to address the possible issues - which were "accidently" detected later.

Also, what you feel were the best practices that your doctor followed, which avoided situations of guaranteed failure.

Let me start with my thoughts and I may add more later.

    Possible Improvements:
    - Testing for Thyroid levels
    - Any test detect if the sperm is not able to fertilize the egg (Shell too thick etc.)

    Best Practices followed:
    - Checking blood flow in each zone in the uterus.
    - Ensureing that I'm following deep breathing techniques (like pranayam, Sudarshan Kriya) throughout the treatment cycle

    Individual best practice:
    - Consulted a homeopath doctor to best support the allopath treatment. The Homeopath doctor was made fully aware of Allopath treatment line. Although, during the last successful cycle, I had stopped the Homeopath medicines just to ensure that allopath doctor has situation in full control, but I still feel they definitely helped improve my response to treatment throughout by making my body more accepting.
    - Exercise routine
    - Eating primarily home food

    Please share your thoughts.

    1. Walking from the Day 1 of BCP

Thanks RG! I hope we get more participation here, coz the no. of views tell me that this would be very much sought after information.

    To add: Some general things
    - Lose undergarments for DH
    - Cotton undergarments for both and avoiding any infections
    - Try to keep healthy so that no additional medication is required.

At last i decided to write here... :)

For an IVF i don't think we need a complete bed rest. May be first few days of complete rest is sufficient. You can do the normal routine in a relaxed way for the rest of the days. Can walk a bit. Spend some time with the nature! Hope these would do the good to our mind & body!

Regarding the general TTC analysis: Its good to go with initial blood tests on the important hormones like thyroid, prolactin, LH & FSH for women. Follicular study to note down the follicle growth in women. Then if necessary HSG. With this itself basic conditions of reproductive organs will come into picture & then can work on them!

    Cool Thread!

    My inputs -

    1. If pcos / insulin resistance has been identified as a possible cause, then daily excercise, weight training and a low carb diet is a must.

    2. drinking water in which methi seeds have been soaked helps with all aspects of insulin resistance / pcos / irregular periods.

    3. Don't use google to research each and every thing. It will drive you nuts!

It would be good if we can summarize all inputs into a single document (word??). It would be a good reference for new members as they come in.

attaching here something i had written for a friend a year back.

    Dear Vasumathy,

    Thanks for adding your thoughts.

You are very correct. Complete bed rest is not necessary - unless suggested by the doctor. I think its good to remain engaged and divert your mind. Bed rest will definitely not help with it. Don't stress but be active.

About the doc, lets receive enough suggestions and then we can compile in a doc, else maintaining the doc will be difficult. Is that ok?

    (reference http://www.indusladies.com/forums/f.../110073-2nd-ivf-cycle-failed.html#post1426548)

    - Try to find out if there is a forum where girls attending the same clinic. A forum like that was my lifeline during our dark days. IT helps to compare wat treatment the clinic is offering to wat kind of problems and wat lil extra things brings on a positive cycle. It will give u idea of wat meds n dosage the others r on. Wat the differnt clinics do in different countries vary a lot so u will benefit if u can talk to people attending the same clinic as you.

    - Try accupunture wen u do ur IVF cycle, if not try to find out an accupunturist specialising in infertility, it is supposed to help. My DH did a course of treatments and I started it a few weeks b4 we started the cycle.
    - Another diet tip during infertility treatments is Eating plenty of protein. I've also heard eating fresh pineapple is good for implantation but in India pineapple is a Big no no due to heat, so i havnt tried myself.

    - Some girls I know were given viagra as part of meds and that cycle worked for them. Do find out if it is applicable to ur condition u cud ask ur doc abt it.

    - Have u heard of Zita West, google her n buy her cd online if u can. It really helps to relax and visualise and think positive.

    - This is a silly one but i might aswell say it, orange is the colour of fertility I have heard so during the TWW i Had bought an orange t shirt and put it on my teddy and had it with me, silly i know but i wanted everybit of luck on my side :)

    - U dnt have to avoid the steps, it is upto u really. But vaccuming and lifting heavy weights is a no no. At the end of the day dnt do anything which u might regret or blame on, God forbid, if a cycle fails.

    - About egg quantity, I was prescribed an additional injection for few days before retrieval, which is supposed to improve the egg quality.

    - Doctor may prescribe a viagra equivalent, to insert vaginally & a powder to take with water everyday. This is supposed to improve the blood circulation, which is supposed to assist in improving result.

    - As a home remedy, eat soaked black raisins (manuka). These are soaked overnight and you have eat by biting its seeds while eating. This is supposed to assist in implantation. You can take 3-4 per day - soaked overnight.

    - As a regular practice, even otherwise, eat 1 almond soaked overnight and 1 dried fig - soaked overnight. For soaked almond - peel off its cover and eat.

    - Keep healthy food habits. Carrots, cucumber and beet root salad with little salt and lemon - is best. It just helps with lots of vitamins and iron. Lemon juice helps in absorbing iron, which is otherwise difficult. And ofcourse all the fibre helps in keeping your system clean.

    - Exercising regularly - just a morning walk - not more.

About exercise - Sudarshan kriya etc.. check with doctor, if you should follow it after transfer. I was told not to.
