There are many commercial products for acne control, which have essential oils, as their ingredients. However, during the manufacture of these products, the medicinal properties of the essential oils are lost. Topical application of essential oils, is one of the best acne treatments. Some oils can be used in their concentrated form, and some need to be diluted with a carrier oil, which is a base oil used to dilute essential oils for acne. Grape seed oil is one of the best choices for a carrier oil. Listed below, are the best essential oils for acne treatment.

Tea Tree Oil: Tea tree oil contains terpinen-4-ol, which kills bacteria and is also used for cleaning wounds. Not only does tea tree oil quickly clear up acne, but it also helps soothe the skin. Do not use undiluted tea tree oil on the skin, as it might lead to itching and drying of the skin. For topical application, mix 2 drops of pure tea tree oil, with 30 ml of aloe vera. You can buy tea tree oil from health stores, or order it online from a list of essential oils for acne.

Lavender Oil: Lavender essential oil has many medicinal properties. It is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and soothing. Lavender oil also has a pleasant scent. Lavender oil helps to cure the red itchiness experienced during acne. It helps to clear and prevent acne. Never use lavender oil directly on the skin. Always dilute the oil with some light oil like grape seed oil. Make a solution of 2 drops of lavender oil and 6 drops of jojoba oil, for topical application.

Rosewood Oil: Rosewood oil is very beneficial among, essential oils for acne treatment and it has a beautiful aroma. For people with oily skin, rosewood oil is the best essential oil for acne. It clears up acne, and prevents formation of new pimples. Also, this oil acts quickly and thus, is one of the best essential oils for acne scars. However, it is not suitable for people with dry skin or sensitive skin, as using it will make the skin further dry and itchy. Dilute 2 drops of rosewood oil with 30 ml of any suitable carrier oil. You can apply this on your skin and keep it on for the whole day.

Clove Oil: Clove oil helps in the purification of the skin. Do not apply pure clove oil directly, as it might lead to skin irritation. Mix 2 drops of clove oil with 30 ml of grape seed oil, for topical application. Clove oil helps to get rid of acne quickly, and prevents the formation of pimples. It relieves pain and prevents infection. Therefore, you can also apply it on burned and bruised skin. Read more on health benefits of cloves.

Jojoba Oil: Jojoba oil is an excellent antioxidant. Pure jojoba oil, can be massaged directly on the skin. It helps to unclog the pores, and eliminates dirt from the skin. Along with removal of acne, jojoba oil also moisturizes the skin. Therefore it is one of the best essential oils for acne, for people with dry skin.

Bergamot Oil: This oil has a pleasing fragrance and gives a calming effect. It is antibacterial and has a quick drying action. Mix 2 drops of bergamot oil with 30 ml of grape seed oil and apply on the acne affected area. You will get rid of pimples and blemishes quickly by using this oil.

For using essential oils for acne prone skin, mix 20 drops of any two or three of the prior-mentioned essential oils with 40 ml of grape seed oil. Store this solution in an amber colored bottle, which will help shield it from the effects of light. Shake the bottle well, and with the help of a cotton swab, dab on the acne affected area. Do not rub the solution and avoid using the solution around the eyes.

Along with essential oils for acne, try to eat right, get some exercise, keep your skin clean and body well-hydrated. This will help you cure acne and also prevent the occurrence of acne. If you are still unable to get rid of acne after using the above essential oils for acne, consult a skin specialist. <!-- From Essential Oils for Acne -->
