Rheumatoid Arthritis among the 50+ age group is quite common in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Delhi</st1lace></st1:City>. My mother-in-law too is suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis. Luckily, her condition is still in the initial stages. Recently, we met an Ayurveda practitioner who advised her to take a bit of “Kachchi Haldi” on an empty stomach every morning. The Haldi has to be taken for a couple of years for best results. My mother –in-law has been taking the Kachchi Haldi for a few months now and has reported slight improvement in her pain.
I know haldi is a good anticeptic and having healing power but this is a new information. Thanks for sharing dear. ganges
Hi Aparna I agree with you. There are many proven benefits of using Haldi. The West is slowly waking up to the multiple benefits of using Haldi. In fact, in a recent study conducted in the United Studies of America, turmeric has been proven to prevent rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. Its anti inflammatory properties have been found to prevent arthritis as well as relieve the aches and pains which are a common complaint of arthritis patients. The study has been published in the Journal “Arthritis and Rheumatism”. Curcumin which is the active ingredient of Haldi has been proved to completely inhibit the onset of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
This is new information. In our house, we have been using turmeric as a home remedy for sprains, swellings and wounds. Thanks for the info.
Hi Thanks all of you for stopping by. In fact, there is more. Recent research indicates that benefits of using Turmeric are manifold. It has excellent anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties which make it effective against a host of cancers, infections and inflammatory disorders like asthma, multiple sclerosis and inflammatory bowel disease. The respected British Medical Journal, Gut has reported that curcumin which is the active ingredient of turmeric reduces inflammation that causes liver cell damage, blockage and scarring in eight short weeks. In addition, Austrian scientists have reported in March 2010 that turmeric protects against liver damage that eventually causes cirrhosis.
Hi Aparna Wow, Haldi has so many uses. I remember that the Govt of India had to fight a legal battle abroad against Western/American companies which had tried to illegally patent both haldi and basmati/texmati. I am so happy that the Govt won the battle.
