:hiyaBeing Woman, i personally think there are lot many changes to be made with in ourselves to tackle the problem named "feminism"--we all understand the meaning and can talk a lot about it. Does anyone of us women ever think that feminism has always been the hot topic of media and society----but actually it is problem whose solution is in our hands. How many women can honestly come forward and say--I am a real feminist because I practise feminism in my house . do you think is feminism applied in your house universally? Give it a serious thought and say how we can apply feminism in our houses and then next door and then globally.:hide: Regards.
Why do you think 'feminism' is a bad thing? As far as I'm aware feminism means wanting equal rights as men. This is the definition I found online Going by this definition then I'm definitely a feminist...I follow feminism by taking the equal right that belong to me. Never think about myself as an inferior to a man (including my husband). Give and take is part of any relationship but I wouldn't be the one to always give. Even now we sometimes need to fight for our rights like rights for equal pay that men who does the same job gets, fight for our right for the well deserved promotion, etc. I am also against dowry and have vowed not to pay a penny as dowry when it comes to my daughters (might not have to face the choice as they might have a love marriage). I give my daughters freedom as much as I would if they were boys. We are where we are because of all the feminist women who fought for our rights otherwise we still would not have any voting rights, inheritance rights, etc.
Thanks Satchitananda, If i am not mistaken you took my view about feminism a bad thing. If you read my views it is encouraging women to accept feminism and come forward to apply it. I liked your views-----thanks.
