    Hi All,
Returning to IL after a long gap.
Please help me with some information, ladies..

We plan to visit Bangalore for a couple of days next weekend.
I would like to know about:
    1. Places we can see in Bangalore.
(I know only of ISKCON temple, Lalbaugh gardens)

    2. Decent medium-economic place to stay. Simple hotel should do. - preferably near the B'lore Junction station.
If possible would like to book in advance.

    3. Shopping - mall and other.

    4. Food - places to eat (both veg and non-veg) - anything special and typical to the city? (medium - not too expensive!)

    5. Also, there is a place "hometown.in" - has anyone of you from the city shopped there? I wish to see some furniture I like. Is it a good quality place?

    6. Forum Mall - with Shiva Mandir / huge statue - is this worth visiting - I have seen it but DH and DD have not. So I would like them to see it once.

I look forward to enjoying my stay there with your help :)
    thanks in advance,
    best,
    Hasita

    Hi Hasita,

Welcome to Bangalore. It is a bit cold here ensure that you have some warm clothes.

On the shopping end, malls are the same as everywhere nothing special you can give them a skip if you are hardpressed for time. Shiva temple and Hometown are on the same side of Bangalore you can visit them. You can check out Commercial street and the boulevard on MG road.

On the food front Masala dosa is a local breakfast special do try it out neer dosa and fish curry can be tried for lunch but not sure if they are available in all restaurants.

    Hope you enjoy your visit.

    Thanks for the info, Jayashree.
Yes, malls should be the same :) but plan to buy a pair of jeans and kurtis for my daughter there, so probably can visit one mall. Any suggestions?
(of course, time is of the essence).

Reg. Hometown Express, there are many locations in the city - any particular one?

Also MG Road is good for a view, right?

You can visit Bannerghatta national park(they have safari also and butterfly park). Its closed on tuesdays i guess.
    Bull Temple.
    Nandi Hills(if you have time)
Sorry i dont know much on this.
Once my parents have stayed in Pearl Residency in Kormangala.Dont know the rent.
You get lots of service apartments for 1.5-2K per day rent.
Mantri Mall,Orion Mall,Phoenix Market City,Garuda Mall,Forum value mall....there are a lot of malls aorund here.
You can visit any depending on where you are staying.
Also for shopping try Commercial Street/Chickpet/Jayanagar 4th block.
Brigade Road has many Brand stores.
    Try Dharwad Peda, Holigae .
Hotels you can try Nandhini(great for Non-Veg).
Vidhyarthi Bhavan is a very old hotel famous for its masala dosas (Near to bull temple).
    Koshi's in M.G.Road(AFAIK)
Other than that you have restaurants of different cuisines every nook and corner of bangalore.
Is this the Home Town of Central? If so IMHO I didnt find it too great.
I guess you get the same kind of furniture at Chennai too.
Forum Mall was one of the first malls here and hence all the fuss.
Other than that its more or less same as any other mall with many shops,PVR Cinemas,Food Court and a Play area for kids.
If you are staying near by Koramangala you can pay a visit.
Else I dont think its worth a long travel.

Also, for the Forum Mall - I wanted them to see the huge Shiva statue. Not the mall as such.
But I read they fleece too much for the ticket and also there are huge lines during weekends..

Bangalore is very traffic Heavy. Sometimes it takes 1 hour to cover a distance of 5KM during peak traffic. However, google can help you.

Once you have a plan , look at google maps and make a plan. You can ask the cab driver, if you are hiring one, but the the best option is to the homework yourself.
