Hi Ladies, Wanna bake a cake, but you don't have an oven?! Here is an easy way. 1. Prepare ur cake batter. Pour it in ur cake mould (aluminium mould) 2. Take a cooker, Put 1 1/2 cup SALT ( This is used instead of Sand) 3. Then place a vessel above salt ( choose a plate which should be atleast 1" above salt layer) 4. Place ur cake mould above the vessel. 5. Put the cooker lid without whistle. 6. keep the Gas flame to Sim. 7. cook for 45 mins. In between you can check , cake is done in center using tooth pick/ knife NB: Dont not throw away the salt, Store it for next baking. Happy Baking regards Sindhu.

Re: Baking a Cake in traditional way without Oven. Believe me ... it simple and easy is it the normal pressure cooker...i was wondering that SALT (powdered or crystals) could be used? Would like to try it soon..
Re: Baking a Cake in traditional way without Oven. Believe me ... it simple and easy HI, Use normal pressure cooker. And i tried with powdered salt.
Re: Baking a Cake in traditional way without Oven. Believe me ... it simple and easy Hi, will the salt not get burnt while coooking for 45 minutes.
Re: Baking a Cake in traditional way without Oven. Believe me ... it simple and easy No. nothing will happen, infact you can reuse the salt for multiple baking too. Just ensure the cake batter doesn't get dripped on the salt , else u would get burnt smell. Also remember to keep (initial 3-5 mins in high flame )stove in low flame.
Re: Baking a Cake in traditional way without Oven. Believe me ... it simple and easy I have not heard about this style of baking. I too have the same feeling the salt may get burnt or start to melt. Anyways thanks for sharing
Re: Baking a Cake in traditional way without Oven. Believe me ... it simple and easy Hi All, Even i was hesitant to try when my sister shared this method. I am a frequent baker and i loved this method (save electricity, also no preheating time ). The salt doesn't get burnt, only it becomes light yellow color. You can even try out non-veg dishes in same method. Just ensure the juice doesnt drop on the salt. If anyone try this, please share your experience. Thanks.
